Running for Polly

In February 2025, our youngest daughter Polly was diagnosed with a brain tumour, a posterior fossa tumour, found suddenly, treated immediately. The day after diagnosis she had a 14-hour operation. Full resection.

What followed was six months of chemotherapy in Australia, then 12 weeks of proton radiation therapy in the United States. We left home in October and came back in January. Polly is now in remission, and most weeks she goes to music therapy, a program run by the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation.

That last part matters. The same foundation I'm raising money for is the one currently helping Polly heal.

I did Connor's Run last year while we were still in the thick of treatment. I wasn't really in the headspace to fundraise properly. This year feels different. Polly is well. We're home. And I want to do something that actually counts.

The RCD Foundation funds paediatric brain cancer research, the science that will one day mean no family has to go through what we did, and they fund programs like music therapy for kids in recovery right now. Brain cancer is the #1 disease killer of young Australians. The research is on the tipping point.
