This Morning, I Ran for Ava

This morning, I ran my fastest ever 5K at Parkrun. It wasnā€™t easy. Every step burned, every breath pushed against the pain. But I kept goingā€”because the memory of Ava carried me.

Ava, with her courage and grace, faced unimaginable pain over four long years: brain surgeries, chemo, radiation. And through it all, she kept smiling. She kept fighting. So how could I not push through my own moment of struggle when she taught me what true endurance looked like?

Todayā€™s run wasnā€™t just a personal bestā€”it was a promise. A promise that I will not stop running. That I will not stop raising money. That losing Ava will never be for nothing. Every dollar raised for brain cancer research is a step forwardā€”a step toward hope, a step toward better treatment, a step toward a cure. Itā€™s my purpose now.

In September, Iā€™ll be running the 9.6K Connors Run, and I need your support. Every donationā€”no matter the sizeā€”counts. It honours Avaā€™s memory and gives other kids a fighting chance. Please consider donating. Letā€™s turn heartbreak into hope, and let Avaā€™s story fuel something powerful.

I'm fundraising for kids with brain cancer!

This September, Iā€™ll run 9km in Connorā€™s Runā€”one foot in grief, the other in hope. Iā€™m running for my daughter Ava, who died at just six years old from brain cancer. And Iā€™m also running for Georgeā€”another bright, brave soul lost too soon to the same disease. They were part of the same drug trial. They fought together. Now, I run for them both.

Brain cancer is the number one disease killer of young people. But weā€™re standing at the edge of a breakthroughā€”and your support can help push us over it. Every donation helps fund life-changing research, so that one day, no parent will have to say goodbye too soon.

I run for those still in the fight. I run for those who didnā€™t have time to wait. I run because Ava and George couldnā€™tā€”and because I believe we can change everything.
