We are fighting brain cancer for Damo!

💙 In Loving Memory of Damien "Damo" Scully 💙

It is with profound sadness that we honour the life of Damien "Damo" Scully, who passed away in July 2026 after an incredibly brave and courageous battle with brain cancer.

Damo was so much more than his diagnosis. He was a devoted fiancé to Layla, a cherished son, brother, grandson, family member, a lifelong sportsman, and the kind of friend everyone hopes to have. Sport was a huge part of who he was, but it was his character, kindness and unwavering support for others that truly defined him. Whether on the field or off it, Damo inspired those around him through his resilience, generosity and infectious love for life. He had a rare ability to make people feel seen, valued and welcome, and his impact extended far beyond the sporting community.

Throughout his journey, Damo faced unimaginable challenges with extraordinary courage. Even as his tumour progressed and he endured multiple surgeries, complications and lengthy stays in intensive care, he never stopped fighting. His resilience inspired everyone around him and united an entire community behind him.

The outpouring of love for Damo was extraordinary. Family, friends, teammates, classmates, colleagues and complete strangers rallied around him, shaved their heads in solidarity, shared messages of hope and reminded him every day just how deeply he was loved. It was a reflection of the remarkable person he was and the countless lives he touched.

Brain cancer may have taken Damo far too soon, but it will never take his legacy.

His story is a powerful reminder of the devastating impact of brain cancer, the urgent need for greater awareness, funding and research, and the importance of never taking a single day for granted.

In Damo's honour, we will continue to walk and run with him in our hearts. We will carry his courage, resilience and incredible spirit for life with us every step of the way. Every km will remind us not only of the life that brain cancer stole far too soon, but of the privilege we all have to wake up each day, cherish the people we love, embrace every opportunity and never take this wonderfully precious life for granted.

To Layla, Paula, Kristie, Aaron, Gerard, his extended family, teammates, friends and everyone whose life was touched by Damo, we extend our deepest love and heartfelt condolences.

Rest easy, Dame. Your fight may be over, but your courage, kindness and spirit will continue to inspire us. We will never forget you, and we will keep walking, running and advocating until there is a future where no family has to experience the heartbreak of brain cancer.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever running and moving forward for Damo. 💙
