Connor's Run 2025 Event Info

01 Sep 2025

This year we're cutting down on printed materials and reducing our paper footprint. Therefore we have not included a printed participant booklet. If you have any queries that aren't answered below or on our FAQ page, please reach out to info@connorsrun.com

Thanks for joining Connor's Run!

You're part of a movement that started in 2013, in memory of 18-year-old Connor Dawes, who lost his life to brain cancer. Together, we've created the world's largest and most fun event for paediatric brain cancer. Your support is making a difference! Whether you’re doing Connor’s Run Your Way Any Day throughout September, or joining us at our Melbourne event on September 14, your participation helps change the odds for young people battling this disease. We couldn't do it without you!

YOUR T-SHIRT

add remove
If you've registered before September 1, your Connor's Run should have been delivered. If not, please contact:
info@connorsrun.com

If you registered after this date you will need to collect your tee from your start on event day. Or at pre-collection, Saturday 13 September, at Ferdinando Gardens Start 1 Hampton 9.30am-12.30pm.

Please note, we are now sold out of T-shirts (as of September 9). And we will no longer be able to provide a T-shirt for late registrations or lost kits.
If you’d still like CR gear on the day, we’ll have a limited number of Connor’s Run singlets available at each start for $25.

You may notice on the back of the tee we have our sponsors, we encourage you to support the companies who support us! As well as Aeternum Fortis, Latin for 'Eternal Strength', Aeternum Fortis first appeared on t-shirts and wristbands that Connor's friends sold to raise money for his treatment.

Wear your tee with pride this September and beyond.

This year we also have T-shirt recycling available. Learn more HERE.

THE COURSE

add remove

Connor's Run has always been about more fun than run. Enjoy entertainment along the way, be on lookout for our dance zone, brain teaser alley, bands, cheer squads and more!

Our 18.8km and 9.6km course is one-way, and you will need to find your own way home from the finish party.

The 3km Little Bird Loop is located at Alexandra Gardens, starting and ending at our finish party.

The route is inspired by a run that Connor did to train for his school’s rowing season.

Traditionally there has been two distances, an 18.8km route which commences in Hampton, and a 9.6km route which begins at St Kilda’s Catani Gardens. Last year we introduced a new wave, the 3km ‘Little Bird Loop’ starting at the finish party, perfect for families, and those who like a shorter route. For safety, children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. A designated pace leader will guide the group; please remain behind the leader at all times

These distances are of relevance as they signify; the age that Connor lost his battle, 18 years and 8 months; his birthday, 9 June, and the 3 little birds being an icon in the foundation’s logo, signifying Connor’s love for the Bob Marley song ‘Three Little Birds’.

Traffic and pedestrians
Please remember no roads or walkways will be closed for the run so we will be sharing footpaths with pedestrians. Please be mindful of other people and careful near roads. At every road crossing we will have volunteers stationed to assist you in crossing safely, please listen to them and don't run across an intersection without their permission.

  • Your Myki card for a return trip on public transport.
  • EFTPOS card if you’d like to purchase RCD Foundation merchandise, or food and drink at the finish. We will also have activations from our partners.
  • Don't forget to fill out your "I WILL" statement on your bib. You can do this at home, or you'll get a chance before the run. Connor's "I WILL" was "I WILL be awesome".
  • Asthma sufferers should bring their medication. Our first aid is not legally allowed to carry these.

BAG DROP

Bring as little as possible!
Due to the wonderful but large response to the event, we ask you to avoid using the bag drop if you can. It's best to bring as few things as possible so that you don't need to bring a bag to drop off. If you do, make sure the bag can be closed fully. Your bag will be transported to the finish line - available to collect after the run, on the grass area behind the rowing sheds.

We will look after them but we do not accept responsibility for lost or damaged goods left with the bag drop.

Hot tip: Organise to share a bag as a group!

We ask all walkers to carry their own bag and not check them in.

YOUR WAY ANY DAY

add remove

Can't make it to our Melbourne event? No worries! Embrace the spirit of Connor's Run Your Way Any Day throughout September. Channel your inner Connor with your own "I WILL" affirmation. Just like Connor did in his yoga class with his "I WILL be Awesome" mantra, create your own personal statement for strength and motivation.

Now, it's time to move. Take on a challenge of any kind: run, walk, roll, hop, skip, jump, dance – the possibilities are endless!

Feeling extra ambitious? Join our 120,000 Step Challenge! Step up for brain cancer and take on this 12-day challenge, starting September 14th. Why 120,000 steps? It represents the 120 of children diagnosed with brain cancer under 12 years old in Australia each year. Complete the challenge and log your steps on your fundraising page for a chance to win a Garmin Forerunner watch valued at $299!*

Whether you choose the step challenge, create your own fitness adventure, or join in any way you can, make it awesome! Every step, every move you make makes a difference in the fight against childhood brain cancer.

Remember: Your ticket for our one day event also includes admission to Your Way Any Day, so everyone can now have ALL of September to help us make BRAINS MATTER!

Please keep in mind it will be cooler in the morning and windy along the shoreline, we suggest bringing a long sleeve top or light jumper. If you don't want to carry a jumper along the course our popular grey hoodies will be for sale at the finish to keep you cosy at the Finish Party.

Stop for a boogie or high five, because Connor's Run isn't about winning or even running really, it's about finding your awesomeness!

HOW TO APPROACH THE DAY

add remove

Everyone is going to be taking the event at different paces. It's a fun run all about being your own kind of awesome. So while we encourage you to run (or walk) at your own pace there's no prize for coming first. And as it is a fun run, our distances may be a tad off

Few of us are professional athletes (I mean, can you imagine the training program!?). This means that our bodies may not be used to the 18.8/9.6km walk or run. Everyone has a good idea of their own fitness. We encourage you to listen to your body. If you feel unwell or injured, please stop and let someone know before it's a real problem. We’ll have St John’s out on the course and every volunteer will have medical numbers they can call for assistance. Please include emergency contact details on the back of your bib just in case.

There are traffic officers manning road crossings. Make sure you obey traffic laws at these points as no roads will be closed.

There is a tram along the course (Beacon Cove to Crown), feel free to hop on board if in need of a break.

Your I Will

add remove

Every year since the very first Connor’s Run, we ask participants to write an ‘I WILL’ affirmation on their bibs. This goes back to when Connor had rehabilitation from his brain tumour treatments with his yoga therapist Patricia. During one of the sessions, Patricia instructed Connor through an affirmation. She told Connor to make a commitment to do ‘something’, whatever Connor wanted that to be. She told him it should start with ‘I WILL...’ and gave examples: ‘I will enjoy my time with my family.’ ‘I will work on improving my right side.’ She told Connor to quietly meditate on his affirmation and that he could share it with her or keep it to himself. Without hesitation Connor said, ‘I WILL BE AWESOME!’.

We encourage all participants to pledge their ‘I WILL’ in memory of Connor’s own awesome spirit. What will you commit to in September? Will you keep it simple, or take on a new challenge in 2024? Whether you’re doing Connor’s Run Your Way Any Day, or joining our More Fun Than Run on September 15, all we ask is that you make it awesome. This year, our friends at Sharpie have generously donated pens to all participants, perfect for writing your ‘I WILL’.

FUNDRAISING

add remove

Connor’s Run is our largest fundraising event of the year and we greatly appreciate any and all donations. You can continue fundraising throughout September, as we monitor fundraising even after event day, and will provide you with any additional rewards you’ve earned as you achieve them.
