Pre-collection, registration and distance changes

Registration

If you haven't pre-collected your race kit you will need to be on time and at the start you registered for on the day to collect your t-shirt and bib. Pease note no new registrations will be accepted on the day.

Emergency contact

Your bib isn't tracked back to your name, so it’s important you write your name and in case of emergency contact on the back. Kids under 12 must include a phone number to a parent.

Pre-collection

To get an extra sleep in and avoid waiting in line on the day you can pre-collect your registration kit. To grab your registration kit early head to:

Renault Brighton on Saturday 16 September between 9am - 12noon

There’s no need to call ahead or book for pre-collection, you can just turn up on one of the dates below and you can even collect registration kits for your friends. Please note if you pre-collect your kit you will also be collecting your goodie bag, so will not receive one at the finish.

Distance changes

If you want to change your distance, you'll need to pre-collect your bib and tee. Then just go to the start you want to start at according to the times above.

How do I get back to my car?

If you've parked at one of the race starts we recommend taking public transport to get back to your car. Our after party is just a short walk from Flinders St Station so you can easily get back to where you started. To get back to Catani Gardens take tram 3a or 16 from Flinders St to stop 135: Jacka Blvd & Fitzroy St. To get back to Hampton Foreshore, take the Sandringham line to Hampton Station.

I can't run anymore, can someone else take my spot?

Yes, you can give your spot at Connor's Run to someone else. They will just need to pick up your registration kit at pre-collection or at the start time and location you registered for. Unfortunately we won't be able to swap the t-shirt size you selected.

Course maps, water & toilets

The Trail

You can view the trail map here

Phased starts

Due to large numbers, we will now have at least five start waves at each start, two minutes apart. This will help everyone get the start they want:

  • Wave 1: Serious runners / experienced at the distance
  • Wave 2: Recreational runners / easy jogging
  • Wave 3: Recreational runners / easy jogging
  • Wave 4: Walkers and talkers out for a Sunday stroll
  • Wave 5: Walkers and talkers out for a Sunday stroll

Traffic and pedestrians

Please remember no roads or walkways will be closed for the run so we will be sharing footpaths with pedestrians. Please be mindful of other people and careful near roads. At every road crossing we will have volunteers stationed to assist you in crossing safely, please listen to them and don't run across an intersection without their permission.

Course detours

This year, due to roadworks, there are two pedestrian footpaths closed for construction meaning we will be detoured around. The two footpath closures are located:

  • Outside Sandbar Cafe on Beaconsfield Parade
  • The tram stop on the corner of Normanby Rd and Clarendon St

Please be extra careful and mindful of other pedestrians in these areas.

Toilets

In case you need to plan your toilet breaks, they are located:

  • Start 1 - Hampton LSC
  • Dendy Beach LSC
  • Middle Brighton Baths
  • North Point – by North Road Pavillion
  • Elwood LSC / Elwood Sails
  • St Kilda Baths
  • Catani Gardens
  • Armstrong St
  • Beach Road - between Catani & Kerferd Road
  • Port Melbourne LSC
  • Beach Road - between Port Melbourne and Beacon Cove
  • Beacon Cove (last one for a long way!)
  • Crown Casino complex
  • Southbank Boat Sheds

Water stops

There are five water stops along the trail at 3.3km, 6km, 9.8km, 13km, 15km and one at the finish. Each water stop is also equipped with a first aid kit.

Fun on the run

Because we believe in having more fun than run, we've got some cool surprises waiting all along the course. Keep an eye out for some incredible live music, entertainment and supporters including:

  • The Harambe Acappella group
  • Sandy House Cheer Squad
  • Voices Pop Choir
  • Brain Teaser Alley
  • University of Melbourne Cheerleaders
  • Hug Bears
  • Bob Marley Reggae Band
  • Warm Bloods Band
  • Girl Guides Cheer Squad

Stop for a boogie, high five or hug because Connor's Run isn't about winning or even running really, it's about finding your awesomeness!

Bag drops

Bring as little as possible!

Due to the wonderful but large response to the event, we ask you to avoid using the bag drop if you can. It's best to bring as few things as possible so that you don't need to bring a bag to drop off. If you do, make sure the bag can be closed fully. We ask all walkers to carry their own bag and not check them in.

Your race bib number will be your reference for your bag and you'll need to collect you bib before drop-off and have it with you to pick-up your bag, which will be transported to the finish line.

We will look after them but we do not accept responsibility for lost or damaged goods left with the bag drop.

Hot tip: Organise to share a bag as a group!

What to bring

  • You'll get a limited edition t-shirt to run in (we'd love for everyone to run in these).
  • There will be water/Gatorade stops along the way, every three or so kilometres. If you need more fluids, pick up a CR water bottle on the day for $5.
  • Your Myki card for a return trip on public transport.
  • Some cash for the BBQ and an EFTPOS card if you’d like to purchase RCD Foundation merchandise like socks, jewellery and more.
  • Asthma sufferers should bring their pump. Our first aid is not legally allowed to carry these.

If you don't want to run in your CR Tee, you can purchase a dryfit singlet ($25) or dryfit hat ($20) at either start points or at the finish. We’ll also have $5 CR water bottles available so you can stay hydrated.

Our complete range of RCD merchandise will also be available to purchase at the finish.

How to approach the day

Everyone is going to be taking the event at different paces. It's a run about being your own kind of awesome. So while we encourage you to run (or walk) at your own pace there's no prize for first.

Few of us are professional athletes (I mean, can you imagine the training regime!?). This means that our bodies may not be used to a 18.8/9.6KM walk or run. Everyone has a good idea of their own fitness. We encourage you to listen to yourself. If you feel unwell or injured, please stop and let someone know before it's a real problem. We’ll have St John’s out on the course and every volunteer will have medical numbers they can call for assistance.

Skateboards, scooters and bikes pose a danger to those choosing to walk and to take it easy. We ask you to not bring these to the event. (Prams are ok!)

There are traffic officers manning road crossings. Make sure you obey traffic laws at these points as no roads will be closed.

There is a tram along the course (Beacon Cove to Crown), feel free to hop on board if in need of a break.

Please leave dogs and pets at home.

The after party

It's not over at the finish line! To celebrate your achievement we're putting on a big party after the run. The afterparty doesn't stop until 12pm so please stick around for some incredible food, free activities, entertainment and FUN.

After running, walking, or skipping through the course you'll be greeted by

  • Lots of cheers and applause
  • Live bands and DJs
  • Yummy food, drinks and snacks from our BBQ
  • Free massages
  • Inflatable footy zone
  • Rowing competition
  • Rubik's cube demos (from the World Champion!)
  • Yoga with Lululemon and...
  • Mingle and have your photo taken with celebs!

#Connorsrun

On the day we will have a live stream of your happy snaps from Instagram. Just remember to hashtag all your Instagram photos with #connorsrun and you'll be able to see them on the big screen at the finish if your account is not private. We're also on Snapchat if you want to share your stories with us.

Weather

The forecast is a perfect sunny 18 degrees!

We hope it stays that way however, short of a hurricane rolling in, we're going to go ahead with the event! Please keep in mind it will be colder in the morning and windy along the shoreline.

See you September 17!
